Fundraising & Events Volunteer Intern

Job description

Crisis Group is seeking a volunteer to support its London Private Sector Initiatives team in all fundraising activities related to corporations, individuals, and family foundations. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to coordinate closely with the New York events team in the planning, delivery, and follow-up of key high-level donor events in London. The volunteer will be expected to:

  • Research and compile accurate profiles of prospective funders;

  • Monitor and analyse key corporate sectors and draft monthly situation reports;

  • Undertake other research projects as agreed;

  • Support in establishing and sustaining close relationships with prospective and current donors;

  • Draft funding proposals and correspondence;

  • Assist with the preparation and on-day support of ICG events in London, including breakfast briefings, high-level dinners and conferences;

  • Maintain the donor database and records on Raiser’s Edge;

  • Office management support and assistance in preparation for bilateral meetings; and

  • Schedule appointments, handle correspondence, keep track of calendars, and perform other necessary tasks as needed.

As part of a small and friendly team, the position will heavily focus on research, events planning and administrative tasks, while offering an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a prestigious international NGO. The Fundraising & Events Volunteer will specifically gain insight into Crisis Group’s work to prevent wars and shape policies that build a more peaceful world.

The successful candidate will discover how an organisation approaches and cultivates high-level relationships with individuals and corporations. A significant portion of Crisis Group’s funding comes from private sector support and, as such, the Fundraising & Events Volunteer will be part of a small team that makes it possible for Crisis Group to continue its work on preventing and resolving deadly conflict worldwide.

The Fundraising and Events Volunteer will be working closely with the Corporate & Family Foundations Manager and will support the wider Development team. Weekly meetings will be held to discuss projects and review progress, and the volunteer will have the opportunity to interact with others across the organisation, particularly the wider Private Sector team and interns based in New York.
