Job description

Crisis Group is seeking two full-time volunteer interns to support its Development/Fundraising Team for a period of six months starting 25th January 2017. They will provide daily support to staff of the Government and Foundation Relations team in Crisis Group’s Brussels HQ, focusing on different areas of the team’s work – data management, and events management. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist the Development Team in prospect research, policy monitoring, briefing notes, grant proposals and grant reports, and day-to-day grant and donor management;
  • Support the development and improvement of data management for the team, including liaising with different staff members across teams;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to external events organised with Crisis Group’s donors;
  • General ad hoc administrative support to the team, as needed.

 

The positions offer an excellent opportunity to gain valuable fundraising, data management, and events experience in a high profile international NGO. The successful candidates will discover how an organisation approaches, cultivates, and maintains relationships with institutional donors, including governments and foundations (please find donor list here: https://www.crisisgroup.org/support-us/our-supporters). They will learn how to identify and link governmental foreign policy or institutional thematic priorities with Crisis Group activities and develop a prospecting rationale; monitor policy developments which may affect donor activities; support successful donor events; and improve internal administrative processes.

 

Requirements

  • A recent, relevant undergraduate/post-graduate degree;
  • Well organised, communicative and interpersonal working attitude, keen to take initiative and collaborate in a team environment;
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently with tight deadlines under pressure;
  • Fluency in verbal and written English; other European languages particularly French and German are a strong advantage; Excellent, demonstrated English language writing skills, with the ability to draft briefs, reports and summarise text;
  • Possession of an EU passport, student visa or other means of working in Belgium without work permit sponsorship from Crisis Group.

The successful candidates should commit from 25th January 2018 – 25th July 2018.
