As part of the Communications & Outreach Department based in our Brussels headquarters, the Online Communications Officer is responsible for creating and disseminating engaging digital content aimed at promoting International Crisis Group's publications, advocacy and events online. The Online Communications Officer will also monitor the organisation's social media channels, seek out new social media avenues and opportunities, upload content to the website, and support the communications team as needed. The position reports to the Online Communications Manager.
Day-to-day management of Crisis Group’s online channels including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and other relevant platforms;
Draft and oversee production of content for Crisis Group’s online channels, including supervision of relevant interns;
Update content on Crisis Group’s website as required;
Monitor, analyse, and report on performance of social media, using Google Analytics, Meltwater Engage, Falcon, Tweetdeck and other tools;
Draft online media outreach strategies when required and for Crisis Group events;
Work with colleagues to ensure Crisis Group’s online content is dynamic, visually appealing and regularly refreshed;
Monitor developments in digital and online media, and propose new ideas for Crisis Group to maintain an active and engaged digital presence; and,
Assist colleagues in the Communications & Outreach Department as part of a team effort to deliver other communications outputs as needed.
Graduate-level academic or technical qualification in online media marketing, international relations, conflict resolution, journalism or related field;
Two years’ experience in online media management or digital marketing/engagement;
Demonstrated skills in content writing for online media and social media;
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities as well as ability to meet tight deadlines;
Experience in using Adobe’s Photoshop, InDesign, Audition, Premiere and video animation a plus;
Fluency in spoken and written English;
Team player with strong interpersonal communication skills.
