Job description

Crisis Group is offering an excellent learning opportunity to develop short and social video skills, learn how to match that with conflict prevention strategies and see how a policy organisation develops its communications strategies with relation to all kinds of audio-visual media. In this volunteer internship you will also be observing, contributing and providing feedback to our processes as a member of the communications team. This is a volunteer position for 6-months starting in September 2021.


We offer you learning on the job through:

  • Help develop multimedia and video content for Crisis Group’s website and social media,

  • Assist with editing videos using primarily Adobe Premiere Pro and other tools such as Adobe After Effects and Adobe Audition;

  • Assist during interview recordings with Crisis Group’s analysts;

  • Assist with researching, writing and editing of scripts, storyboards and story synopsis;

  • Update video content on Crisis Group’s website and social media;

  • Engage professionally with social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter;

  • Monitor developments in online media;

  • Monitor the success of video efforts using YouTube analytics and other tools, and

  • Provide general support to the communications team.

Requirements

This volunteer position will suit anyone interested in acquiring a practical overview of a wide range of countries in conflict, developing concise videographic skills, and learning how a policy organisation develops its communications strategies. Candidates will need good English, good video editing skills (knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and other Adobe Creative Suite tools is a must) and to enjoy working in a fast-paced, multinational team. The ideal intern will already be familiar with video editing in a professional setting, have interest in conflict prevention and ability to work well in a diverse team. Authorisation to work in Belgium is required.


Our communications team is based in Brussels and it would be great to have a volunteer intern who is already in Belgium. However, we are open to considering remote work.
